FOREIGN LANGUAGES EDUCATION

ABOUT

The Department of Foreign Languages Education aims to pave the way for teacher candidates to become resourceful teachers. In the 4-year program, teacher candidates will be provided with compulsory and elective courses such as Applied Linguistics, Language Acquisition, Approaches and Methods in Language Teaching, Teaching English to Young Learners, and Testing and Assessment. Candidates are expected to develop their own practices within the scope of community service practices, have the background to do action research via projects, and become ready to teach by observing and giving courses to different levels of students.

Faculty members have been organizing in-service trainings on various subjects and doing research to have a more efficient teaching system. Having the opportunity to combine theory and practice, the Department of Foreign Languages Education plans to share their experience on curriculum and material development, testing and assessment, language teaching, use of technology and extra-curricular activities with academics and their teacher candidates.

Also with the programs such as Erasmus+, Farabi and Mevlana, we try to reach the goal of “internationalization” by cooperating with international institutions.
