Culture, Workshop and Art Activities Club Visits African Masks Exhibition

31.03.2026

Members of the Culture, Workshop and Art Activities Club visited an exhibition featuring African masks and sculptures from the collection of Haluk Akın on 27/03/2026. Prepared with the support of Kadıköy Municipality, the exhibition brings together ritual masks and sculptures from different cultures, offering visitors a rich cultural perspective.

The collection consists of approximately 600 pieces gathered from Africa, as well as from America, Europe, and Turkey. The exhibition presents works reflecting the rituals, beliefs, and artistic expressions of nearly 60 tribes from 17 different countries. Each piece represents an important cultural heritage element reflecting the identity and symbolic narratives of the societies to which they belong.

During the visit, club members had the opportunity to learn about the ritual uses, symbolic meanings, and production techniques of the masks. The exhibition provided an insightful experience in understanding how different cultures express themselves through art and how artistic traditions reflect cultural diversity.

The Culture, Workshop and Art Activities Club will continue to organize similar cultural and artistic activities in the future.
