The 8th issue of the ELT Monthly magazine which is prepared by İstanbul Medeniyet University Foreign Languages Education Department students has been issued. This volume has been issued in order to share our pride in sending our first astronaut into space. With the aim of learning more about ‘Space’ as a concept, our writers have researched historical, political, and social perspectives along with its influence on many areas such as art, fashion, architecture, film, and music.
In this issue, you may find the analysis of the movie "Gravity" and the book "Rendezvous with Rama" which were selected from the movies and books where ‘Space’ is the dominating theme. You may also find the analysis of Gerard Manley Hopkins' poem "The Starlight Night", and the cake recipe inspired by the Moon itself by our chef İlsu Kır. The most exciting part of this issue is about our first Turkish astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı. Additionally, a new story begins with the creativity of Semanur Balcı, one of our writers. You can find the first chapter of this story, which will continue in the upcoming issues.
